LINDA BUSTANI

One of the important South American pianists of internacional prominence, Linda Bustani studied with Arnaldo Estrella in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A prize winner of Vianna da Mota International Competition in Lisbon at age 15, she was invited by Iakov Zak to work under his guidance at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow where she also studied with Elisso Virsaladze.
A prize winner in the International Competitions of Bratislava and Rio de Janeiro, her acclaimed participation in the 1974 Leeds International Competition brought her into the limelight and launched her international career.
Concerts and recitals in Portugal, the Netherlands (Concertgebow), Belgium, Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Scotland, United Kingdom, Japan, Hungary, the United States and Latin America followed her Leeds appearance.
She was then engaged by the New Philharmonia Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony, the City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Welsh, BBC Scottish Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Bratislava Symphony, Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Petrobras Pro Música Orchestra and the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, where she performed under the direction of Simon Rattle, Charles Groves, William Tausky, Anatoli Fistulari, Louis Frémaux, Okko Kamu, Gunther Herbig, John Neschling, Isaac Karabitchevsky, Eleazar de Carvalho, Roberto Duarte, Henrique Morelembaum, Alceo Bocchino, Roberto Tibiriçá, Ligia Amadio, among others.
In 2003, Linda Bustani was awarded with the Carlos Gomes Prize (São Paulo, Brazil) as the “best pianist of the year”.
