BNDES believes that access to classical music, with its colors, complexity and historic background (music is as ancient as civilization itself), is the approach to one of the noblest forms of enlightenment. BNDES is also convinced that all the manifestations of culture are closely linked to social development. Each concert is a new opportunity to get acquainted with the infinite meanings of music.

That is why the BNDES is honored to sponsor and support the V International Piano Competition, continuing BNDES’ role as the principal development agent of Brazil since BNDES’ creation in 1952.

BNDES’ objective is to indentify worthy projects in the different economic areas, be it a major undertaking such as a megaproject in the traditional sector of infrastructure, or a small enterprise. In this wide range of activities, BNDES does not overlook the economy of culture, which generates wealth through the use of creativity.

BNDES is privileged to help uncover and provide opportunities for new talents by supporting the V International Piano Competition. The 2016 competition honors the pianist Lucia Branco and the composer Camargo Guarnieri.
